HONGKONG, CHINA, THE PHILIPPINES AND AN APOLOGY

I certainly think that Hongkong and China are justified in demanding an apology from the Philippine government with the way it handled the hostage drama . The incompetence and utter lack of urgency to resolve the hostage crisis are valid reasons for an apology. President Noynoy's refusal to answer calls from Donald Tsang at the height of the hostage crisis is simply outrageous and inexplicable. Now, as the Philippine investigation reveals the truth that President Noynoy, Gen. Magtibay and Mayor Lim abandoned their posts at the height of the hostage drama to eat fried rice and prawns, it is only proper the Philippines issues an apology. The media and police force may have had their shortcomings but the three top officials deserve much of the blame. Being the officials tasked to resolve the crisis, they must own up to their mistakes, miscalculations and improprieties. Healing can only come after an apology and an acceptance of one's costly mistakes.
