THE BIGGEST REVELATION OF THE MANILA HOSTAGE CRISIS

It is not the incapability of the police force to effectively handle the hostage-taking that really upsets me the most. Nor is it the way media irresponsibly put the lives of several people in jeopardy. Rather, it is the complete and unwavering trust of P-Noy in his men that really upsets and shocks me. Despite the obvious errors midway into the hostage drama, P-Noy still left it completely to his men to decide what to do.
While P-Noy's complete trust in his men may be reassuring for some, I see it as an admission of his utter lack of knowledge, competency, initiative and strong will. He professes his utmost trust in his men to cover up his own shortcomings as a leader.
I guess P-Noy did not have much choice on what to do during the hostage drama than to watch his men handle the whole situation. He left his men to do their thing because he did not have a clue on what to do best. That is, other than to eat fried rice.
