CEV PRESIDENT AND FIVB SECOND VICE PRESIDENT ANDRE MEYER SHEDS LIGHT ON LVPI PAYMENT

                                                                                                                           April 28, 2015

Dear Mr. Meyer,

Greetings from the Philippines.

I wish to know if Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas Incorporated has paid the amount of USD  80,00.00 for full FIVB recognition. I am still investigating the volleyball conflict in the Philippines.

Your quick response will be highly appreciated and will greatly help clear the problem in Philippine volleyball.

Thank you.

Yours,

Eric F. Dimzon

Dear Eric,
I checked to-day with the finance department, the amount of USD 80 000 had not yet been registered in any account.
Best rgards

courtesy of Twitter

PVF AND ITS CASE AGAINST LVPI

Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) filed a court case and temporary restraining order against Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas Incorporated (LVPI) last April 22, 2015. The legal action was filed before the Pasig RTC Branch 154.

The legal action of PVF against LVPI will hopefully bring sanity to the whole volleyball crisis. With the case, LVPI will now have to prove its legality with court-admissible evidences. Press releases and photo-ops will no longer have weight.

The case too will hopefully pave the way for other NSA's to bravely put up a fight against the abuses of POC, PSC and illegally-put-up NSA's. The case will serve as an eye-opener for other NSA's that it is indeed possible to beat the system created by present sports bodies and officials.

Lastly, the case serves as a great reminder of the ability to effect change through a courageous and united stand. With PVF's action, it is indeed possible to change a rotten system with everyone's help. Fans, players, coaches and sports officials can band together to achieve a common goal. Hopefully, PVF's brave stand will be the spark to bring about the much-needed reforms and drastic changes in Philippine sports management.

THE LIES THAT LVPI TRY TO SELL

Here are the lies that Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas Incorporated (LVPI) try to sell to serve its own interests.

1. Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) does not allow Amihan and Bagwis players to play for LVPI. The truth is, PVF offered to loan the entire Amihan and Bagwis, including their coaches, to LVPI. LVPI refuses to accept the offer.

2. LVPI is recognized by POC, PSC, AVC and FIVB. The truth is, not a single one of those sports bodies recognizes LVPI as the true and official national federation for volleyball in the Philippines. To this day, there is not an official document from POC, PSC, AVC and FIVB that says that LVPI is the duly recognized sports association for volleyball in the Philippines.

3. Players who choose to play for LVPI are heroes. The true heroes are the players of Amihan and Bagwis who remain firm in their decision not to play for LVPI. The highly-principled stand of Amihan and Bagwis makes these players heroes who want to effect change in the way sports is run in the country.

4. Amihan and Bagwis are only in it for the money. The truth is, these players never demanded that they be compensated before playing for the country. It just so happens that PLDT Home Ultera sees the need to support these players and to champion the commitment of the company  to help volleyball in the country.

5. LVPI will take volleyball back to its glory days. The fact is, the officials of LVPI are the ones who contributed greatly to the decline of Philippine sports. These officials, who are POC officials as well, could only lead the country to a 7th place finish in the last staging of Southeast Asian Games. Why expect then, these officials to lead volleyball to a new and bright future ? People need to look at what these officials did in the past to know what they will do in the future.

Volleyball fans and the general public must therefore, at this time, be discerning. Only knowledge of the truth can prevent deception and make these lies powerless and irrelevant.

THE REAL PROBLEM IN THE CONFLICT BETWEEN PVF AND LVPI

To reduce the current volleyball crisis to a mere dispute between two warring factions is to miss the point. While it is true that there are two combatants, namely PVF and LVPI, the real problem is the mismanagement of Philippine sports by sports officials who continue to wield power for the past decade or so.

In recent years, Philippine sports declined to abysmal level. In the recent SEAG, the country placed seventh which is the lowest the country has placed in the regional tournament. In the last four stagings of the Olympics, the Philippines failed to bag any medal.

Add to these, world champion and world-record holder Philippine Dragon Boat Federation Team was dissolved by POC and PSC. FIDE 8th ranked Wesley So now plays for the US instead of the Philippines after POC, PSC and NCFP treated him poorly after giving the country so much pride and honor.

And now, the same POC and PSC officials who have done so much harm to Philippine sports claim its latest victims in PVF, Pilipinas Amihan and Pilipinas Bagwis. Without shame, these officials are now denying the best and brightest volleyball officials and players the chance to represent the country in international competitions.

With their proven track record of failure, it is time for POC, PSC and even LVPI to truly assess their true worth in Philippine sports.

FIVE REASONS WHY PLAYERS MUST BE WARY OF LVPI

Here are five reasons why players must be wary of LVPI.

1. To this day, LVPI  is not fully recognized by POC, PSC, AVC and FIVB. Despite its numerous pronouncements earlier, LVPI remain unrecognized by POC, PSC, AVC and FIVB.

2. The people responsible for the steady decline of Philippine sports are the very people behind LVPI. No one can contest the fact that Philippine sports reached rock-bottom because of the people behind LVPI. The Philippines placed seventh in the last SEAG, the lowest the country has ever placed.

3. LVPI officials only became interested in volleyball when money started pouring in for the sport. These LVPI officials and supporters, in fact, are part of the group that prevented volleyball teams from competing abroad in the last ten years. But now, they are projecting an image of being saviours of the sport. And this at a time when PLDT Home and SM entered the picture.

4. LVPI and its media friends peddle half-truths to serve their interests. Line-ups of the national teams virtually change by the day as press releases cover up the inability of LVPI to attract players to join its teams.

5. LVPI does not have the money to finance national teams. In fact, the men's team that is slated to participate in SEAG will have to shoulder its own expenses. No allowances from PSC will be coming too for the men's team as it is not recognized by PSC as a national team.

So players, think twice. Better yet, think a hundred times before joining LVPI.

WHAT DOES THE ABSENCE OF PLAYERS MEAN FOR LVPI ?

Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas Incorporated (LVPI) conducted its first training day for the U23 and Senior volleyball teams yesterday. Only 4 girls and 6 boys attended the much-publicized first training day. The incredibly small number of players who attended the said training indicates the utter lack of trust and confidence of the players for the LVPI leadership.

What I find totally surprising is that some of the drumbeaters of LVPI had the gall to post pictures on Twitter of the training. The pictures only show how pathetic the whole training was. Just imagine 4 girls having the whole gym to themselves, exercising and playing. The pictures showed how virtually empty the Ateneo gym was. The pictures only accentuated the failure of LVPI to gather the best and brightest volleyball players the country has.

I can't help but realize that without doing anything at all, Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) stands a good chance of shaming LVPI. LVPI does not know when to quit even when the dire results are right in front of its face. The inability to accept defeat could only mean disaster for LVPI.

ONE-ON-ONE WITH BAGWIS PLAYER JESSIE LOPEZ

courtesy of Twitter

Champion kami for 3 consecutive years.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A LIGHT OF THE WORLD AMIDST THE VOLLEYBALL CRISIS ?

Matthew 5:14-16New International Version (NIV)

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew:14-16 tell us that we need to do God's good works. The works involved are those that glorify God and not ourselves.
In light of what is happening in Philippine volleyball, being a light, for me, is telling the truth and upholding what is right in the eyes of God. In telling and writing the truth, people are informed and are able to discern what is right. Christianity dictates that action is needed to combat lies and deception that are perpetrated by selfish individuals. As what light does, Christianity enables men to see - see the truth and the path to take.
Have a meaningful and joyful holy week.
