SHALANI SOLEDAD : A CHANGE THAT I CAN GET USED TO

Shalani Soledad had her baptism of fire as she appeared for the first time in Willing Willie last night. She came in a white dress that made her look old and odd. She was obviously nervous as her voice cracked several times during her first spiel. She shed tears as she thanked everyone who gave her their support at the start of her debut.
As the program went on, Shalani performed her duties without fanfare and noise. All throughout the show, she maintained her soft voice, propriety and decency.
But what I found great about her was her sincerity that managed to get across to the viewers. Her statements were almost always coming from the heart. She did not generate laughter at the expense of the contestants. She easily understood the situation of their contestants and offered kind words each time. Shalani was a far cry from the loud and offensive co-hosts that Willie used to have in Wowowee. Best of all, she spoke with much sense to give the program intelligence and decency. At the end of the show, Shalani was gamely throwing witty remarks with Willie. Her funny side came through as she became more comfortable in front of the camera.
Given more time, I definitely think that Shalani would turn into an intelligent and effective co-host. She might just turn out to be what Willing Willie needs to topple its rivals.

  1. No, EFD. It's a very very wrong combination. A soft-spoken lady and a show that's supposed to be lively. Don't get me wrong, I find Shalani cool, hindi lang talaga bagay. Parang asar na nga si Papi kasi wala siyang energy. I can imagine Kris Aquino laughing at Shalani's hosting skills.

  3. My cousin just had a great suggestion. She said, why not let Shalani have her own segment in Willing Willie? Something like Kapwa ko Mahal ko, then Willie can continue with his solo hosting. The two of them are like oil and water.
