While I am happy that a Filipino has landed a role in Glee, I can't help but be irritated with the antics of Charice Pempengco. First, it was her complete denial that she auditioned for Glee. Now comes her botox session with Dr. Vicky Belo. At 18, Charice has resorted to injecting poison in her face in her attempt to look pretty.
I am particularly disappointed with Charice as she fails to see the greater importance of God-given talent than physical beauty. I am certain that Charice was added to the cast of the popular show because she has a tremendous singing voice. The producers, I am certain, did not take it against her that she is not pretty at all. It is just sad that Charice takes it against herself that she is not pleasing to the eye.
A few hours ago, I saw her interview on GMA7. She spoke with an American accent. She sounded like a California Girl. Too bad she does not look like one despite the botox. Can't she just be herself ?
I believe it's been confirmed that the procedure was done to alleviate jaw pain brought about by bruxism. The news simply highlighted the cosmetic benefits of the procedure. I think it was right for her to go to Vicki Belo for this because say what you will about her, she happens to be extremely good at what she does.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, just my two cents, I think it's entirely possible to be yourself and get a cosmetic procedure, specially one that's non-invasive like this. Also, if you stay long enough in a place, you will inadvertently pick up the accent, so I see nothing wrong with Charice having a slight twang. The fact remains that Charice is an amazing singer and that she's one of the biggest stars out there today.

i do agree that charice is an excellent singer. but the lies that she sells to everyone are just so ridiculous. she claims that she has bruxism. but for 18 years before her glee stint, she never complained of jaw pain. she also said that she never auditioned for glee which turned out to be such a lie. i am proud that she is a great singer. but i am not proud that she lies so much and can't accept herself for the way she looks.
