The Azkals defeated Mongolia via score of 2-0 in Bacolod in front of a huge crowd. The match was not exciting at all. It was more hilarious than anything else.
The Mongolian team looked so clumsy, inexperienced and unskilled. The Mongolian players could hardly pass to an open teammate. They kept on committing errors one after the other. In fact, the second goal of the Azkals resulted from a miscue of three Mongolians players who simply watched the ball roll by near the goal.
The Azkals likewise looked clumsy at times. But I have to hand it to the Azkals for knowing how to play with the crowd. Younghusband acted like a rockstar after scoring the second goal for the Philippines.
What really made me laugh so hard were the two Mongolian players who had to be taken out of the playing field on a stretcher. In a match where the two teams colliding are ranked 152 and 182 in the world, it is so ridiculous that two players were taken out on a stretcher. The level of skill and competitiveness between the two teams do not at all merit a stretcher. After watching Japan beat Australia in the recent Asian Cup, I feel so shortchanged watching the Azkals-Mongolia match. But I, at least, got a few hard laughs from watching the match. I wonder if the majority of those who watched the match were amused as well.
Meanwhile, Glee did a cover of Michael Jackson's PYT. It was simply great.
