SORRY LOSS OF GINEBRA TO SAN MIGUEL : SOME INTRIGUING FACTS

Ginebra lost to San Miguel by a point last night. After leading by as much as 21 points, Ginebra lost steam and ended up committing several errors that cost the Gin Kings the game. The Gin Kings had a chance to still pull off a victory but Miller's dribbling error in the last 6 seconds of the game spelled defeat for the most popular team in the PBA.
What I find so interesting is the fact that it was Siot Tanquincen who was calling the shots for Ginebra. What happened to Coach Jong who is the official head coach of the team ? While Siot was loudly giving out instuructions to Ginebra players, Coach Jong was quiet during the huddle. Then, the last play in the last 6 seconds of the game was really surprising. While I agree that it should be Willie Miller who should go for the winning shot, I can not understand why screens were not made for Miller to enable him to get a clear look at the basket. Miller was being guarded by Arwind Santos who stands at least 4 inches taller than the Ginebra guard.  It just does not make sense for someone like Willie Miller to go one on one with a 6-4 forward who is a mainstay of the All - Defensive team of the PBA.
Noticeably, Mark Caguioa and Jayjay Helterbrand played listlessly and without enthusiasm. Could the problem of Ginebra be deep-rooted ? Could it be that certain personalities in the team have not patched up their differences in the past ? I would love to discover the mystery that surrounds the Ginebra team.

  1. they should'ved brought jong to as asst.coach of siot.& it myt be better to trade those players who doesnt possess HEART & keep those who are worth dying for the loose ball..yo the management, please make certain decisions before its too late that time will come your just as popular as the worst team in the PBA right now.Im a die hard since the pre jawo era,so please bring back the never say die spirit again!!!BRING BACK JAWO! thats d only hope that we had!

  2. The other teams know that, in the end, they have 5 players going up against the Ginebra 5.., and that all they have to do is to prevent them from doing their thing.. In the end, it is still basketball. And no matter how much "heart", hustle, and "never say die" spirit Ginebra throws at them, all they have to do is to throw back their own brand of basketball..

May puso rin ang ibang team.. Ginebra does not have the monopoly on "heart".. To think otherwise is stupid..

  3. @efd. I don't think there's mystery or some unsolved internal problems surrounding Ginebra. Caguioa isn't performing well simply because he's past his prime. I think you got the answer to your so-called mystery right there in the earlier sentences in your post: a bigger Santos is guarding Miller. SMB had the luxury to have that match-up because of Ginebra's composition. There's just too many guards. Had they acquired Asi in the offseason, Ginebra would have been 3-0 now.

  4. dalawa lang naman ang cause ng downfall ng ginebra e...

    1. Pangit ang pamalakad ni Uichico...di na masaya ang mga veteran players nila because of his style...pati pag pick-up ng players sa draft man o sa trades pangit din...pati rotation...malaking kabobohan ang ginagawa ni Uichico...tapos na ang panahon nya...dapat mag-step down na sya.

  5. @anonymous, I agree with point no. 2 but disagree with point no. 1.

@efd, I already put up my post about the survey. My only request is that you include 2 choices on your post.

I still believe na magiging dominant ang mga guards natin this conference. Kulang lang talaga sa chemistry. Good luck sa BGK!
