COACH ABOY CASTRO : A CALL TO SACRIFICE

The U.P. men's basketball team lost to U.S.T for its third straight loss in the UAAP. While the Maroons display tremendous improvement in both offense and defense this year, they still have a hard time closing out their games. As a result, the fighting Maroons end up losing its games.
One good thing going for U.P. is the addition of Coach Boyet Fernandez to the coaching staff. Coach Aboy Castro has tapped Coach Boyet as team consultant to boost U.P.'s campaign this season. In Coach Boyet's first two games, U.P. nearly won. In fact, U.S.T needed extra minutes to defeat U.P.
Perhaps, it is time for Coach Aboy to consider giving up the coaching post to Coach Boyet. The present line-up of U.P. shows tremendous potential. An excellent coach will do wonders for the team. As it is, Coach Boyet cannot steer the team to victory because Coach Aboy continues to preside over the team. As team consultant, Coach Boyet can only give suggestions to the team. It is still Coach Aboy who decides eventually what to do with his players. It is still Coach Aboy who still has the final say on how the team plays.
I am in no way belittling the coaching ability of Coach Aboy. But with the three straight losses of U.P., drastic measures must be taken. A Coach of the Year awardee in the PBA is sitting in U.P.'s bench. Why not maximize his presence ? Who knows, like what he did to his former team, Coach Boyet might just end up giving U.P. a championship trophy.

  1. I once read an article about the new player of UP. He said that UP will be in the final 4 after the elimination, but as what i can see now, UP has 3 losses already and as usual, they are in the bottom list. I know UP players already improved their skills in basketball but the basis of winning in a game does not rely on the players alone but also on how their coach handle the team and how he performs his duty. A coach is very important in a team and what the UP team needs right now is a coach who is well-proven in his coaching abilities and coach boyet fernandez is well-suited for this job. I hope UP will give him a chance. Anyway, good luck to UP. Prove to everyone that UP is not an underdog. Go FIGHTING MAROONS!!!
