WILL THE BIGGEST CHANGE IN PHILIPPINE SPORTS COME IN NOVEMBER ?

courtesy of sports.iquirer.net

The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) election is set to take place this November. Incumbent POC President Peping Cojuangco has publicly announced that he will gun for his fourth term as POC president. With his allies strategically positioned in various national sports associations (NSA's), Peping Cojuangco might just run unopposed. From all indications, he just might end up as the longest serving POC president in Philippine sports history.

But a game changer can take place. That is, an appeal by President Duterte to the different NSA's to vote for Cojuangco's opponent can spell the end of Peping Cojuangco's happy days at POC. Even the most loyal allies of the 82 year-old POC president will surely vote for the opponent once President Duterte makes an appeal. They will surely dare not to upset President Duterte, will they ?

The happiest day in Philippine sports will definitely be the day when Cojuangco is finally removed from POC. It will be a victorious day for the athletes, coaches and stakeholders of sports in the country.
