KOREA REPUBLIC INCHES CLOSER TO WORLD CUP BRAZIL




Korea Republic won over Uzbekistan, 1-0, courtesy of a header by Uzbekistani defender Shorakhmedov. With the win, the Taeguk Warriors appear to book its eigth consecutive FIFA World Cup appearance.

Shorakhmedov's header came in the 41st minute of the match. But despite the loss, Uzbekistan can still make the World Cup by winning its last game and Iran loses to Korea. Uzbekistan is aiming for its first World Cup appearance.

Japan, so far, is the only Asian country assured of a spot in World Cup Brazil. Only the top two teams in each group of the Asian qualifiers will book tickets to the world's greatest sports spectacle.
