After 7 years of war in Iraq, the U.S. is now pulling out most of its troops. President Obama says that the time has come for Iraq to determine its own future. A turnover ceremony was led by Vice President Joe Biden to mark the end of war in Iraq and start of Operation New Dawn.
Notwithstanding the fact that Iraq is now in political disarray with the pull-out, President Obama's fulfillment of his campaign promise to end the war in Iraq is truly commendable. Instead of engaging in a war that hardly benefits the U.S., President Obama has decided to look at the war in Iraq for what it truly is and take the best course of action. Indirectly, President Obama admits the defeat of the U.S. in its war in Iraq. But as far as I am concerned, the pull-out shows the winner in President Obama. I consider it noble for a president of a nation to accept defeat and move on to bigger things ahead.
