LA SALLE AND THE PHILIPPINE NATIONAL GAMES : WHY THE SUDDEN PULL-OUT ?

courtesy of gmanetwork.com

The volleyball games for women are now underway at the Philippine National Games. But UAAP and PVF Intercollegiate champion La Salle surprised everyone, including the organizers, when it decided to pull out of the tournament at the last minute. In fact, La Salle defaulted its first game and PNG organizers are scrambling to fix the schedule of games with La Salle out of the tournament.

A reliable source says that La Salle officials told organizers that a few of their students are currently abroad. With an incomplete line-up, La Salle decided to just withdraw from the tournament. Another source says that Team officials told the organizers that the schedule of games coincides with the examinations of their players. Hence, the decision to simply withdraw from the tournament.

The reasons to explain the pull-out, as far as I am concerned, are preposterous. La Salle submitted its intention to participate in the tournament before May 17, 2013. With its application complete and approved by the organizers, why did La Salle players suddenly go abroad or have exams knowing fully well that their team is set to join a major tournament that even serves as a try-out for the national team ?

More likely, La Salle decided to withdraw from PNG as Cagayan Valley, represented by the Bomberinas, decided to participate in the tournament as well. With the Bomberinas in the tournament, La Salle is suddenly forced to play second fiddle. And the prospect of losing becomes more real for La Salle with the Bomberinas in the picture. After winning the UAAP and PVF Intercollegiate titles, a loss in the PNG will put a dent on La Salle's image of invincibility. Thus, the withdrawal. A smart move by the team officials of the women's volleyball team of La Salle indeed.

  1. I think this article is being unfair to the La Salle Lady Spikers, making assumptions based on rumors without knowing what the other side has to say.. geez.

  3. Eto na eto na!!

La Salle didn't even sign in, in the first place. I know that it will come to this, a move to discredit La Salle like what they have done in the V-League. tsk

  4. "More likely, La Salle decided to withdraw from PNG as Cagayan Valley, represented by the Bomberinas, decided to participate in the tournament as well. How come you only bothered looking at it from your alleged informant's perspective? Looks more like one of those demolition jobs to me. And you have the gall to label your blog a place "where everyday topics are discussed objectively to arrive at the truth."

  6. At the first place La Salle did not join. The writer did not show any proof or evidence that LaSalle joined the tournament. HE/She just started with the assumption that La Salle actually joined and from thereon started his/her malicious comments and opinions. Above, you can not find any documentary pieces or even screengrabs of conversations of officials to support his/her claim. This blog is just pure bullcrap journalism. Blogs like these are usually written by the other team's fantards who have much hatred towards La Salle for continuously beating there fave team over the years.

  8. I don't understand why make this thing a big issue. Is there any laws under PVF violated by the team?

  11. Why so bias Mr. writer? You should have checked your facts first! Tsk. Tsk. FYI, during a tune up game where on eteam fielded in someof the bomberinas, la salle defeated them. The only advantage bomberinas have over la salle is the setter and the twin towers, santiao sisters. And how on earth would you expect them to participate if the coaching staff knew from the very beginning that classes in dlsu would start on May 27. And your write up is sooooooooo bias!
