WHY THE SUDDEN NON-LIVE COVERAGE OF THE AZKALS ?

First, ABS-CBN Sports claimed that Myanmar refused a live beam of the Myanmar-Philippine match. Then, ABS-CBN Sports now claims that Myanmar refuses to grant a live coverage of the matches in the AFC Challenge Cup without the necessary papers. Something just doesn't make sense here.
For one, why will FIFA Asia choose a host country which refuses to allow live coverage of the matches ? This is the first and only time that I have heard of a host country that refuses to allow other nations to cover the matches live. The president of FIFA Asia will surely come under fire should it be proven that he chose a country that imposes restrictions in covering FIFA events live. Surely, the FIFA Asia president has enough sense not to allow such a negative issue to haunt him as he is currently running for the presidency of the whole FIFA body.
Could it be that ABS-CBN Sports is lying as far as the live coverage of the AFC Challenge Cup is concerned ? Could it be that ABS-CBN Sports has decided not to air the matches of the Azkals to prevent conflict with the PBA ? Could it be that ABS-CBN Sports is afraid of getting into a legal battle with the PBA if it decides to air the FIFA matches instead of the PBA games ?
Your guess is as good as mine.

  1. I don't think ABS is lying about the refusal of Myanmar. Knowing ABS, they would air whatever could be aired. If they had live feed, they would most certainly broadcast it. There are ways. For example, PBA game on-going and a small part of the screen is simultaneously airing the Azkals game. They could also do that in TV Patrol.

  2. dear ro,
    thank you for your comment.
what then could be the reason for the non-live airing of the matches ? I also remember abs-cbn being threatened by the pba when it decided to air a pba game on delayed basis. so you could just imagine if abs-cbn airs the azkals match instead of the pba games. Demanda talaga.

  3. What I'm saying is maybe they were really denied coverage. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they're telling the truth.

But that the PBA could be jealous of Azkals popularity? That's a good angle worth pursuing.

  4. dear ro,
no nation will ever be denied of coverage. fifa makes sure that its games are aired live as much as possible. if you would notice, abs-cbn as a whole did not air the matches live. it is not just a matter of abs-cbn not finding a spot for the afc challenge cup.

  5. If the studio 23 were not denied the telecast, they should've aired the azkals matches since it would still mean ratings for them.

Myanmar decided to air only the games featuring the Myanmar national team. Hell, even the Palestine football fans are complaining of the non airing of games.

Yesterday at teledyaryo sports, the PFF President said that Myanmar radio and television board handles the coverage. a "DVD" will be sent by courier to them and only then will it be edited for tv format. That was the reason why telecasts were delayed

Also, you should know that there were no PBA Games on monday. And maybe the fact that myanmar is in a "military junta". Where all media is restricted. What Can a Fifa President fo against a Military Junta.

Also Explain the angle of dozens of filipino journalists denied entry to myanmar.

Maybe next time you should try to research on things before making assumptions and once again pushing the ridiculous "Basketball vs Football" angle to earn hits for your blog. That Shit has already flooded pinoy exchange.

  6. dear anonymous,
i am happy to know that you are a thinking reader. now think about these. why did fifa asia choose myanmar to be the venue for the afc challenge cup ? why did fifa asia not consider other countries to host the event ? abs-cbn told me something very crucial that could very well explain why myanmar was chosen as the host country of the afc challenge cup. i hope to get to the bottom of the whole thing. we deserve to know the truth.
