Up to two million Egyptians gathered in Cairo's Tahrir Square Tuesday. Hundreds of thousands likewise gathered in Alexandria. What was initially thought to be impossible, Egyptians were able to achieve. In a strong and definite show of force and solidarity, the Egyptian people showed the whole world that they have it in them to command change through people power.
I am extremely happy to witness the events that are taking place in Egypt. The courage, unity and community spirit that Egyptians continue to show the whole world are noble and praiseworthy. More importantly, the people power in Egypt is a good sign that democracy can take root in the Arab world. Congratulations indeed to the Egyptian people !
