Egypt is now in the middle of a political upheaval. Egyptians have trooped to the streets to demand an end to a corrupt government. Images of thousands of people in the streets seeking to overthrow a government remind me so much of what happened in the Philippines in 1986.
From news report, Egyptians are not merely demanding concessions from the government. Rather, they want to remove President Mubarak from office. Mubarak has ruled over Egypt for the longest time with corruption seemingly a trademark of his administration. I just hope that Mubarak heeds the call of his countrymen to prevent further bloodshed. Mubarak must realize that his time is up. It is time for Egypt to chart its own destiny without Mubarak as its leader.
