It's been more than a week since I submitted the questions that I intend to ask the Philippine Dragon Boat team. To this day, no one from the team has responded. Even the president of the Philippine Dragon Boat Federation refuses to issue an official statement.
I got interested with the team's story since the team was denied of its place in the Asian Games. The team claims that its performance in international competitions more than qualifies it to the Asian Games. But the Philippine Olympic Committee has denied its participation in the Games because the team " cheated " in a pre-qualifying run.
I just find it odd that the dragon boat team takes such a long time to respond to the allegations. Worse, it has decided not to issue an official statement. The way that the team has not raised a protest over the incident, to me, is a sign of its guilt. If it's true that the team indeed faked its clocking, then it has no business whatsoever to represent the country in international competition. In fact, the team should be banned if it indeed cheated. I hate to say it but the dragon boat team deserves its exclusion from the Asian Games. It simply does not have the heart and character to properly represent the country abroad.
