At the 36th
FIVB Congress, only 49% of the General Assembly voted to expel PVF. The
percentage failed to reach the 75% mark which is what is needed to expel PVF
from FIVB. Hence, PVF remains the full member of FIVB.
But FIVB BA
refuses to honor the decision of the highest authority in FIVB and points to
POC as the reason why PVF remains suspended. In a letter by FIVB Executive
Director Fabio Azevedo to PVF, Azevedo cites PVF's non- membership to POC for
the continued suspension. FIVB BA has cleverly passed the blame to POC
regarding PVF's continued suspension.
But POC can
now immediately recognize and reinstate PVF because the fact remains that it is
still PVF that remains the one and only true member of FIVB for the
Philippines. It is still PVF that is the member of FIVB and will remain so
forever. Truth of the matter is, there are no legal impediments for the
immediate reinstatement of PVF.
The issue in
Philippine volleyball is more than just about an institution becoming a
national federation once again. It is more about justice and good
governance in sports. PVF has suffered for more than four years now all because
of the shameless abuse of power of some individuals in POC. Great injustice was
served to PVF to protect the selfish interests of some individuals in POC. And
justice remains elusive for POC as POC refuses to exercise a strong political
will to do the right thing.
But the
injustice can now be stopped by the POC itself. All that POC has to do is to
confirm with FIVB if PVF indeed remains the true full member of FIVB. And once
FIVB confirms that it is still PVF that is the FIVB member, POC can immediately
reinstate PVF. It is really that simple.
POC must
therefore recognize and reinstate PVF now to show the entire world that is
capable of serving justice and is an advocate of good governance in sports.
this is a noble effort to right the injustice done to Philippine volleyball. The downtrend of Philippine volleyball started when peping and his cohorts connived to take control of the volleyball association, after it had voted against him in the POC elections. The downtrend of Philippine volleyball is karma, showing the world what Peping has done to ruin Philippine sports. Peping will go down in history as the worst POC President the country has ever had, thanks to his evil schemes. Now, anyone he touches as his successor, his dummy, will be tainted by his ill performance.
