Questions, instead of answers, cross my mind with the acquittal of Hubert Webb and friends. Some of the questions are as follows :
1. If not Hubert Webb and friends, who then killed the Vizcondes ?
2. Why did the Supreme court take it against Jessica Alfaro that she was a drug addict ? Being a drug addict all the more gives her testimony a semblance of truth since Hubert and friends were addicts as well. She and the accused shared a common interest which made her a part of the inner circle. Being a part of the inner circle made her privy to the group's undertakings.
3. Why did the Supreme Court overlook the fact that Jessica Alfaro and one of the accused were in a relationship before ? Again, this made her truly a part of the inner circle of friends of Hubert.
4. What did Jessica, the maid who washed the bloodied shirt of Hubert, the security guard of BF and Biong's partner gain from telling lies if they indeed told lies ?
5. Why does Mr. Vizconde believe in his heart that Hubert and friends are the real perpetrators of the massacre ?
These questions may forever be left unanswered. But the saddest part of it all is the question whether justice exists in the country at all.
I think part of the reason was even before Alfaro showed up, Mr. Vizconde consulted psychics which gave him the names which included Webb. That cannot be used in court of course, but in a sense, as a person, you would consider that... watch probe team's documentary Dalawang Mukha ng Hustisya... Mr. Vizconde mentioned it there
ReplyDeleteIt is very sad indeed.HEART-BREAKING for Mr. Vizconde. Even not knowing much about the case, I know most people who are famous, inf;uential or has money never really gets locked up in the Philippines. You only need to look at some of the famouse celebrities, politicians who had been accused of crimes and then wait out oh, maybe several months at most years for their case to just vanish. But if I were to ponder this case, FIRST, It would take QUITE SOMETHING OF SIGNIFICANCE OR STRONG EVIDENCE OF SOME SORT for someone who is son of a politician, actor and senator to be accused.You just dont accused someone from an influential family. And you are right, if Jessica Alfaro was part of Webb's peer and in a relationship with one of them, she would know. Second, the maid. Geesh why would someone like a maid accused her former employee, unless it is true. SHe has nothing to gain by lying, as a matter of fact I would be afraid for my life ,(ok even if no one threatens me but just the fact that you are going against influential people AND LYING?)It doesnt make any sense. The only way she would lie is if someone bribed her. DId the police pay her or the prosecution's side? My take, I dont think so. Because the people who she should be lying for if she wanted to lie would be for the Webb's because ist, she is their employee and second they can afford to and it would be more convenient to lie for them than for the other side.Now I am not saying the Webbs considered bribing. I am just makng the point that the maid has no good reason to lie.
ReplyDeleteIn the end, someone is GUILTY who should be in jail. God knows who it is. He saw him did those terrible things. To Mr. Vizconde, This criminal may have gotten away but he will get his just punishment in Heaven. And I think it would have been a lot easier if these people paid for it here because they are facing the punishment of the people which is Prison time( that is not as bad because a lifetime in prison would still end when someone dies). But in the next life it would be God's punishment which is AN ETERNITY IN HELL. So let's all be at peace :)
