This certainly defies logic.

WHY I THINK KRIS AQUINO IS RIGHT IN LEAVING JAMES YAP

There are reports that the reason why Kris Aquino left James Yap for good is that she has found a new love. Some reports even go to the extent of naming the politician  who Kris has fallen in love with. I just find all these reports and insinuations downright stupid.
The stupidity of these reports stem from the fact that these reports are written by gossip columnists who are simply not as discerning and logical as legitimate opinion writers. First of all, I find it highly unlikely that the presidential sister will leave her husband just to get romantically involved with another man. It is highly unlikely that Kris will put her brother to shame with such a selfish act. Kris loves her family so much that I do not think she will willfully destroy the family name. Secondly, Kris can ill-afford to destroy her marriage just to be with a new lover. Her marriage to James Yap is her last chance to a normal married life.
Lastly, people tend to forget that in the recent past, James Yap lied when he declared to one and all that he never got involved with a Belo Medical personnel. Despite the evidences, James had the gall to deny his involvement with Hope. Why trust and believe someone who lied through his teeth before ?
I see hopelessness as the reason why Kris Aquino has decided to end her marriage to James. Such hopelessness can only result from a series of unmitigated offensive behavior from James. It does not take a rocket scientist to know just what James continues to do that negatively impacts their marriage.

GINEBRA : ANO BA TALAGA KUYA ?

GINEBRA : THE HERO LOSES AT FIRST

Ginebra just lost to Alaska at the start of the quarterfinal stage. The game became more exciting towards the end where Ginebra fought tooth and nail against Alaska.
Despite the loss, I remain hopeful that the Gin Kings will be able to bounce back from defeat. It is interesting to note that not a single local player from Ginebra played a good game. There were players who had brief moments like Ronald Tubid but no one in particular had game long brilliance. MVP's Willie Miller, Eric Menk and Jayjay Helterbrand all played under par. Yet, Ginebra had a chance to pull off the victory. If not for some crucial turnovers, Ginebra could have snatched the victory from the Alaska Aces.
If the players of Ginebra work as a unit next time around, I am sure that the team will earn a big victory. If players like Mark Caguioa, Willie Miller, Jayjay Helterbrand and Eric Menk will only play their usual game and help their hardworking import, there won't be a reason why Ginebra cannot come back to level the series.
Like millions of its fans, I am excited to see Ginebra play its usual game. I am sure the team's usual game is enough to give the team and fans something to be happy about.

COACH BOYET FERNANDEZ : A GEM OF A COACH

I have decided to write an article for Bandera featuring Coach Boyet Fernandez of the defunct - Sta. Lucia team. Talks are rife that Coach Boyet might not be absorbed by the team that bought Sta Lucia's franchise in the PBA. With the article, I hope to remind everyone that Coach Boyet is still the great coach that he is.
Coach Boyet was elevated to the status of head coach of Sta Lucia after Alfrancis Chua was re-assigned as team consultant. In 2008, only a year after being designated the head coach, Coach Boyet gave Sta. Lucia its second championship trophy. The same year saw Coach Boyet win the Coach of the Year award in the PBA. Players like Kelly Williams, Ryan Reyes, Dennis Espino and Nelbert Omolon won individual PBA awards under his helm. Unknown free agents were also given by Coach Boyet the chance to strut their stuff in the PBA. Even during the final season of Sta. Lucia, Coach Boyet gave players like Aljamal, Escobal and Menor the playing time that they needed to boost their confidence. As a result, Aljamal, Escobal and Menor improved tremendously by season end.
But what strikes me the most about Coach Boyet is his concern for his players. Aljamal and Escobal only have words of praise because of his genuine kindness and concern for everyone in the team. Coach Boyet, they claim, is the type of person they can turn to at any given time.
I certainly hope that another team picks Coach Boyet as its next head coach. A great coach with a good heart like Coach Boyet deserves to stay in the PBA.

DOES GINEBRA STILL HAVE IT ?

I have the gut feel that Ginebra's last win over Rain or Shine is a sign of great things to come for the team. What many expected to be a close match for the quarterfinals turned out to be an easy victory for Ginebra.
Could it be that Ginebra finally found the import who will carry the team all the way to the finals ? Could it be that Willie Miller has finally gelled into the team ? Could it be that Coach Jong finally found the right combination and rotation of players ? Or could it be that the players themselves have found new vigor and enthusiasm to play ?
Whatever it may be, Ginebra certainly looks in fighting form now. I certainly expect Ginebra to do well in the quarterfinals where it will meet Alaska. It has shown it still has it. All that Ginebra has to do is to reach from within to come up with the kind of game millions have grown to love Ginebra for.
