WHY THE AIZA MAIZO INCIDENT IS AN EYE-OPENER

courtesy of rivals.ph

In a disturbing display of gross disrespect for a player, LVPI through Coach Roger Gorayeb put Aiza Maizo on reserve for the SEA Games in Singapore. After receiving much flak from the decision, LVPI and Coach Gorayeb put the most awarded female volleyball player of the Philippines as an assistant coach instead.

The Aiza Maizo incident is significant because it shows how politics play a huge part in the formation of LVPI teams. Maizo should be a shoo-in for the SEA Games. But Coach Gorayeb and LVPI put in Bea De Leon instead in an obvious attempt to please people in the organization.

The incident also shows how powerless Coach Nes Pamilar is in protecting his recruit from embarrassment. Sources reveal that Maizo agreed to join the LVPI team because of Coach Nes, who is her coach in Cagayan. But even Coach Ness could not prevent people from LVPI from shaming Aiza Maizo.

And to add insult to injury, Maizo was told off by a sports writer through Twitter.

To regain her dignity, Maizo should just abandon the idea of joining any LVPI team. She should not subject herself from further embarrassment by becoming an assistant coach for LVPI. She should realize that LVPI people are simply not worth her time and loyalty. The sooner that she realizes this, the better it is for her.

  1. Very well said, encapsulated what the majority of volleyball fans, not just aiza maizo fans mind you, feel about her exclusion.
LVPI,POC and all those unscrupulous entities feel justified by your statements, they think na may small segment ng volleyball fans na agree sa kanila.
sa mga kritikal na fans tulad natin, sige lang. make our voices heard. this is not just about aiza maizo being shamed although galit na galit tayo sa disrespect kay maizo lalo na yong ginawa ng pseudo-journalist na manicad sa kanya over twitter, this is notb just about us fans na tumatangkilik at main dahilan ng pagsikat ng volleyball, kung wala tayo walang manonood walang pera but for the future of philippine volleyball. alam natin bawat galaw at quality ng players dahil tayu ang nakakita ng performance- stress on actual performance during actual games.
    sana man lang nakinig.
pero they take us for granted.
we are angry. we must never forget. yes, support our team but we must let them feel- Gorayeb, LVPI etc our anger!

  2. If we want improvements for Philippine Volleyball we should understand that we cannot simply set aside issues like this and move on from it. People should be involved. Volleyball players and the entire sports community should realize that there is a need for us to voice out the things we see so we could act upon it. The many can overpower the few.

Changes need to be made and we cannot see these changes if we refuse to speak what needs to be spoken. One for Philippine Volleyball... Or better yet, One for A Better and Cleaner Philippine Volleyball.
