SAN BEDA SHOWS CHAMPIONSHIP POISE
San Beda stamped its championship quality with a classy 60-48 win against arch-rival Letran to draw first blood in the 2013 NCAA championship series.
San Beda stars Baser Amer and Ola Adeogun struggled during the first three quarters. But the Semerad twins came off the bench to provide the points for the struggling San Beda team. The twins were a picture of hustle as they sustained the team pretty much during the first three quarters. Ludovice likewise provided timely hits to keep San Beda close.
But the stars of San Beda suddenly got their bearings in the fourth quarter and carried much of the fight for the Red Lions. All told, Adeogun finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds to outplay Almazan where it mattered most. Baser Amer hit a couple of three point shots to finish with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists.
While San Beda has its determined players to thank for the win, I must take my hats off to Coach Boyet for coming up with a winning formula. Coach Boyet came up with a game plan that effectively rendered Alamazan useless in the crucial part of the game. And Coach Boyet was able to draw out the best from his players in the fourth despite their struggles in the first three quarters.
Well done indeed, San Beda !
